The provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took a handsome initiative to protect the journalist’s rights. The KPK government has asked for a list of all such journalists who are not only associated with print and electronic media but also hold various positions within the media. All such officials should not only be relieved but an up-to-date list should be issued.
As per the notification of the Directorate General Information and PRs ( Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ) Peshawar, all the presidents, Chairmen OF the Union of Journalists, and press clubs across the province are requested to expel govt employees, terminate their membership. As many of the government employees not only work as journalists but also enjoy membership of unions/ press clubs and journalists’ bodies. Which is a clear violation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Govt, Employees Conduct Rules 1987.
In case Govt,employee is found member of any journalist’s body, stern action will be initiated against the responsible govt, employees and no assistance will be extended to such press club.
