Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently addressed a special ceremony of Thanksgiving Day in Islamabad, marking Pakistan’s victory in Operation Bunyan Marsus. He emphasized that Pakistan has emerged stronger after the war and is now in a position where no great power can stop its path. However, he also stressed the importance of peace, stating that Pakistan wants to focus on development and prosperity, just like the rest of the world.

The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s military capabilities, saying that the country’s armed forces have given a befitting reply to the enemy. He specifically mentioned the role of the Pakistan Air Force and its use of technology developed in collaboration with China. Sharif expressed gratitude for the support of friendly countries, including the US, in promoting peace in the region.

Shehbaz Sharif’s speech conveyed a message of national unity, economic development, and peaceful coexistence with neighboring countries. He emphasized the need for Pakistan to move forward and utilize its resources and brilliant minds to achieve economic prosperity. The Prime Minister set ambitious targets, including ending electricity and tax theft, providing specialized training to 500,000 young students, and promoting investment in the country.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Pakistan’s significant sacrifices in the war against terrorism, with 90,000 lives lost and $150 billion in economic losses.

In his speech, Sharif also recalled Pakistan’s stance on climate change, mentioning the devastating floods that affected 33 million people and caused $150 billion in economic losses. He emphasized the need for global action to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Prime Minister urged the international community to recognize Pakistan’s sacrifices and losses in the fight against terrorism.³

Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for Pakistan’s future includes rapid economic growth, poverty reduction, and improved living standards. He emphasized the importance of national unity and cooperation in achieving these goals. The Prime Minister also called for diplomatic efforts to resolve outstanding issues with neighboring countries, particularly India.

In his victory speech as Prime Minister for the second time, Sharif vowed to steer Pakistan “back to shore” and overcome the challenges facing the country. He thanked his brother, Nawaz Sharif, and allied parties for their support and emphasized the need for collective action to change Pakistan’s fate.
