Provincial Management Service Association (PMSA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa strongly condemned the brutal attack on Deputy Commissioner Kuram and called it an attack not only on an individual but on the state system and government structure. The incident took place on January 4, 2025 when Deputy Commissioner Kuram Javedullah Mehsud was attacked by terrorists while performing his official duties, as a result of which he and the security personnel accompanying him were seriously injured.

A PMSA spokesperson said that the attack is an indication of the extent to which civil officers are facing threats in sensitive and dangerous areas. He said that these officers have always performed their duties with unwavering commitment, but it is important to ensure their safety to strengthen the state system. The association has strongly demanded the federal and provincial governments to take immediate and effective measures for the protection of civil officers. These demands include the following:

  1. Bulletproof vehicles should be provided to officers posted in sensitive areas.

  1. Security protocols should be strengthened and trained security personnel should be deployed along with officers.

  1. The existing security arrangements should be comprehensively reviewed and improved.

According to PMSA, the security of civil officers is not only an administrative requirement but also a moral and legal responsibility of the state. The Association expresses its full solidarity with Deputy Commissioner Kuram, his family and all the injured security personnel and prays for their speedy recovery.
