When the CDA chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa made a surprise inspection visit at the Diplomatic Enclave Shuttle Service in Islamabad, his startling discovery was shocking. The facility, which was to transport these citizens to various embassies for a variety of visa purposes, was alas found to be in terrible shape. During this visit, muck in the wait and reception areas, below-standard commodities sold to these citizens, and disgusting restroom facilities topped the list.
The chairman’s visit was spurred on by directives from Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Interior Minister, to better the facilities for shuttle service citizens. What Randhawa saw was far from the expected standards. The whole place was reeking of garbage, and the wait and cafeteria areas were a total disgrace. To make matters worse.
Despite this, the Chairman was angered about the aftermath and directed a taking-of-action against these cafeteria owners immediately. The Chairman also instructed that samples of the food in the cafeterias would need to be taken and tested at the Islamabad Food Authority to ensure that citizens are not served anything that is adulterated or expired.
Furthermore, Randhawa has called for a complete plan within three weeks for upgrading the shuttle service area, aiming to give citizens big, clean, and well-maintained cafeterias, waiting areas, and washrooms.
At present, citizens get to travel to embassies for visa purposes using 10 electric buses daily. Although this is admirable, the experience is ruined by insufficient facilities and services. The CDA-administered shuttle service is poised to set it right so that the citizens can feel comfortable and safe during this travel.
