KARACHI: A high-level security conference was held at Headquarters Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) on Saturday under the chairmanship of Director General Rangers (Sindh) Major-General Muhammad Shamreez and Inspector General of Police Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon to review and strengthen measures for maintaining law and order across the province, with particular emphasis on Karachi.
The meeting was attended by Additional IG Karachi, Additional IG CTD, Additional IG Special Branch, all DIGs, Joint Director General IB, senior Rangers commanders and senior officers of other sensitive agencies.
Officials reviewed the overall security situation in the province and issued directions to enhance the effectiveness of joint operations by Rangers, police and intelligence agencies against terrorists and disruptive elements. Emphasis was placed on tightening checks at the city’s entry and exit points.
The conference approved a comprehensive plan to combat extortion, target killings, illegal display of weapons and other serious crimes. Measures were also agreed to strengthen patrolling and snap-checking to ensure the security of the business community and foreign nationals.
Participants stressed the need for improved inter-provincial cooperation among law-enforcement agencies to suppress anti-state activities throughout the province.
The public was urged to assist security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity or persons immediately to deployed Rangers personnel, the Rangers helpline 1101, or via the Rangers WhatsApp assistance number 0347-9001111 (call or SMS).
