Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has expressed strong condemnation over the reported inhumane treatment of Begum Bushra Imran, wife of former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, during her imprisonment. The party stated that Bushra Bibi is being targeted solely because of her relationship with Imran Khan and is facing conditions that no civilized society could justify. According to details shared by PTI, she has suffered insect bites so severe that her feet had to be bandaged, and she narrowly survived electrocution when rainwater caused a short circuit in her cell’s electrical board. Twice, she was shocked while attempting to press a button.

The party further revealed that she has been denied access to clean drinking water and is compelled to use dirty water stored in buckets, waiting for the soil to settle before consuming it. This same contaminated water is used for bathing and performing ablution. Even for washing clothes, no clean water is available. When Bushra Bibi handed over her clothes to family members so they could be washed at home and returned, the jail administration refused to allow them to be taken out.

PTI has also highlighted severe restrictions on her right to meet family members. A meeting with her husband Imran Khan reportedly took place after two weeks, while her family was only allowed to meet her after more than a month, and that too after she went on a hunger strike. The party has declared these restrictions as part of a broader campaign of cruelty and humiliation aimed at mentally and physically torturing both Imran Khan and his wife.

Terming the situation a blatant violation of human rights, PTI has accused the current government and prison administration of disregarding not only the law and constitution but also fundamental moral values. The party stressed that even prisoners held under political charges are entitled to basic rights, yet in this case, cruelty itself is being used as a weapon.

PTI has held the government and jail authorities directly responsible for what it calls barbaric treatment and vowed to continue raising its voice against these injustices. The party expressed confidence that the struggle for justice and resilience will eventually prevail, and this “dark night of cruelty” will come to an end.
