Further strengthening their international partnerships, the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation in research and policy dialogue.
The MoU was concluded during the two-day official visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, to Dhaka on 23–24 August 2025.
Major General Iftekhar Anis, Director General BIISS, signed on behalf of BIISS, while Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mr. Imran Haider, signed on behalf of ISSI.
The signing took place in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar; Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Government of Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain; Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary (Asia-Pacific) Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui; and senior officials from both countries.
The MoU aims to institutionalize cooperation between the two leading think tanks by fostering academic linkages, joint research, exchange of scholars, and collaboration on emerging national, regional, and global issues. It also includes provisions for sharing expertise, information, and strengthening academic programs to deepen mutual understanding and people-to-people ties.
Welcoming the agreement, Director General ISSI, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, stated:
“Ultimately, this MoU reflects our shared commitment to foster deeper understanding, dialogue, and collaborative research—contributing to the growth of fraternal ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.”
