Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said that a temporary NOC has been issued to Elon Musk’s company Starlink in consultation with all security and regulatory agencies.
Statement on the temporary registration of Starlink , Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the registration of Starlink has been ensured on the instructions of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. She said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Pakistan is moving towards digital development, and on the instructions of the Prime Minister, a major step has been taken to improve the internet system.
The IT Minister further said that the approval of satellite internet is a milestone for Pakistan’s digital future, and the Prime Minister’s instructions were to improve the internet system in Pakistan. Modern solutions like satellite internet will improve connectivity in the country, the government has worked closely with all institutions under the ‘whole of government’ approach, and the Cyber Crime Agency, security agencies, PTA, and Space Authority played a key role.
She said that a temporary NOC has been issued to Starlink in consultation with all security and regulatory agencies, and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will complete Starlink’s fee payment and other licensing requirements.
IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that with the arrival of Starlink in Pakistan, satellite internet will be formally launched.
