Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has emphasized the crucial role of the National Police Bureau in enhancing the country’s policing system. During a meeting, he directed the bureau to redefine its objectives and adapt to modern requirements. He also instructed the preparation of an action plan for reforms on an emergency basis.
The minister highlighted the importance of the National Police Bureau in ensuring policy-making, reforms, and cooperation between law enforcement agencies. He noted that the institution has not received adequate attention in the past and needs to be fully activated according to current requirements.
Mohsin Naqvi also directed the immediate purchase of software for research and analysis to review and analyze crimes across different parts of the country. Additionally, he instructed the quick resolution of the process for providing police character certificates under the National Police Bureau.
The minister emphasized promoting cooperation with international organizations and sending more officers for training and posting abroad. Director General National Police Bureau IG Abdul Khaliq Sheikh briefed the minister on the institution’s role and importance, agreeing that it needs attention to fulfill its responsibilities effectively.
