The district administration has bowed down to the shisha cafe owners. More than 108 shisha cafes have been established across the city. Despite the clear orders of the Supreme Court, the district administration is helpless in front of the shisha cafe owners. When the police do not take action, the officers say that the DIG and SSP Operations are pressuring them.

IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi’s Nashe Ab Nahi campaign has also been scattered. In order to stop the supply of drugs in shisha cafes, citizens have demanded from the Chief Commissioner Islamabad and IG Islamabad that the elements selling drugs in any form should be eliminated.

According to the details, the day-to-day increase in the number of shisha cafes in remote areas including posh sectors of the federal capital has raised a question mark on the performance of the district administration.

There are more than 108 shisha cafes in all five zones of the city including F6, F7, F8, F10, F11, E7, E11, B17, the famous commercial center of the private housing society, I8, I9, I10, and I11, on which the Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates are burning while taking action. The police have also remained silent.

A police officer, on condition of anonymity, said that the DIG Operations is obstructing action against shisha cafes, while action is not taken against some shisha cafes due to the SSP Operations and the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad.

According to the same police officer, the shisha cafe owners have taken the form of a mafia against whom action cannot be taken despite the clear orders of the Supreme Court. The police officer says that the district administration can seal the shisha cafes, while the police can register cases under the Smoking Act and Section 144 for violation.

Citizens have demanded from the Chief Commissioner Islamabad and the IG Islamabad that the elements who are injecting the poison of drugs into the veins of our children are drug dealers in any form, that Shisha cafes should also be included in the Nasha Ab Nahi campaign and that strict action should be taken against them and Shisha cafes should be completely closed.
