In a shocking revelation, dozens of Pakistani women have reportedly fallen victim to human trafficking in Serbia, facilitated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Serbia, Ali Haider Altaf, and a woman named Saleha Rajput. The scandal has prompted Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to dispatch a two-member investigative team to Serbia to ensure the safety of the affected women and bring all perpetrators to justice.

According to the latest reports, most of these women were lured from Gilgit-Baltistan with false promises of lucrative job opportunities. Despite warnings from social workers in Gilgit, who attempted to expose Saleha Rajput’s deceptive practices, several educated and semi-educated women fell into her trap. With the assistance of Ambassador Altaf, Rajput successfully facilitated their visas and arranged their travel to Serbia.

Initial reports suggest that 24 women were sent to Serbia on the first flight, followed by another 24 just two days later. Upon their arrival, they were handed over to a Serbian agent known as George. Contrary to the promises of professional employment, including positions in the medical field, the women were forced to work in cucumber fields under harsh conditions. Among the victims were lady doctors and nurses who found themselves subjected to extreme exploitation.

When the women sought help from the Pakistani embassy in Serbia, they were allegedly turned away and sent back to George, exacerbating their ordeal. Furthermore, the promised salary of 600 euros per month was withheld, with George and Rajput falsely claiming that Serbian law required one month’s pay to be held as security. The victims also reported deductions from their wages for food and substandard accommodation. Even during the holy month of Ramadan, they were deprived of proper meals and basic necessities.

Disturbingly, it has been revealed that Ambassador Ali Haider Altaf issued diplomatic notes (notes verbale) requesting visas for an additional 150 women and 25 men, raising further concerns about an organized trafficking network. Meanwhile, those already trapped in Serbia continued to suffer, with no access to medical aid despite some being diabetic or suffering from high blood pressure. Their passports were also confiscated, effectively stripping them of their freedom.

The investigative team dispatched by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar faces the critical task of uncovering the truth behind this scandal. However, concerns remain about whether their findings will genuinely reflect the reality of the victims’ suffering or if efforts will be made to shield the high-ranking officials involved.

Attempts to obtain statements from Ambassador Ali Haider Altaf and the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have so far been met with silence. However, extensive evidence, including video and audio recordings, as well as official diplomatic notes, is available on khabraintv.net, shedding light on the full extent of this tragic case.
