The Islamabad Food Authority has been taking strong measures to ensure quality food in the federal capital, especially during Ramadan. Recently, they sealed a famous restaurant and imposed heavy fines on six others for violating food safety standards.

The authority’s team has been conducting thorough checks, destroying defective oil and expired items. They’ve also issued corrective notices to 40 food points to improve their standards. One of the restaurants was sealed due to the use of defective oil and spoiled meat, while others were fined for poor cleaning arrangements, inadequate storage, and rusty utensils.

Deputy Director Dr. Tahira Siddique emphasized that consuming food prepared with poor ingredients is extremely harmful to human health. The authority is committed to continuous checking of all food points during pre-dawn and Iftar to identify unhealthy elements.

The Islamabad Food Authority’s recent checks revealed several key violations that compromised food safety and quality. Among these violations were poor cleaning arrangements, characterized by insect-infested kitchen areas and dirty washing areas. Inadequate storage was also a concern, with expired items and defective oil found in some establishments. Furthermore, unhygienic utensils, such as rusty ones, were being used for food preparation. Alarmingly, some eateries had ignored previous instructions, failing to implement basic hygiene principles. Despite these challenges, the Islamabad Food Authority’s efforts demonstrate their unwavering commitment to providing quality food in the federal capital.
