According to audit officials, encroachments were established on 176 plots of Gulshan-e-Hadeed Colony. The Steel Mills administration failed to protect the land due to negligence and incompetence. 54 acres of land was given to builders and 4 others on a 30-year lease. Later, 4 people occupied 35 acres of Steel Mills land. People include Brigadier Saeedullah and Colonel (retd) Sohail Malik. Shahzad Ali and Manzoor Hussain are also among the occupants.
According to audit officials, 200 plots have also been allotted to these people. The plots were allotted to Steel Mills Housing Scheme Gulshan-e-Hadeed Phase-III. The land of Steel Mills was also given to HEC for the establishment of engineering universities. Later, this project was abandoned but the land encroachment continued.
PAC referred the matter to NAB for investigation.
