China’s largest food chain, Heidi Lau, has offered to compensate more than 4,000 customers who dined at its restaurant in Shanghai after two boys urinated in their soup bowls. A video went viral on social media last month showing two boys urinating in a bowl of soup in a restaurant room. It is not clear who made the video.

Police say the two 17-year-old boys were drunk at the time of the incident and have been arrested. There is no evidence to suggest that anyone drank the soup. Heidi Lau apologized to her customers after the incident and said she had replaced all of her dishes and other items.

The incident happened in February, but the company only learned about it a few days ago when the video began circulating on social media.

Heidi Lau said in a statement that her staff failed to stop the boys from doing this. Heidi Lau added that it took her about a week to find out which of her restaurants the incident took place at, as she has more than a dozen branches in Shanghai.

“We fully understand that this incident has caused our customers stress, and we cannot remedy it in any way, but we take full responsibility for it.”The company said that anyone who dined at the restaurant from February 24 to March 8 would be refunded 10 times the amount they spent.

The company has more than 1,000 restaurants worldwide. Heidi Lau is known worldwide for its good customer service and friendly atmosphere, where children and women are welcomed with flowers and sweets.
