Islamabad – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration staff at the New Islamabad International Airport foiled an alleged attempt to smuggle three children abroad under the guise of being the traffickers’ own offspring.
According to officials, the children’s families had each paid Rs15 million to an agent to facilitate their travel. Investigators revealed that the children’s records in the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) system had been fraudulently altered to support the trafficking scheme.
The FIA confirmed that a Pakistan Airport Authority employee, suspected of providing assistance in the process, has been taken into custody and included in the investigation. Authorities said the scope of inquiry has also been widened to examine possible involvement of NADRA and passport office officials.
“This is a highly coordinated case of human trafficking and document forgery,” an FIA spokesperson said, adding that further arrests are likely as the investigation unfolds.
Human trafficking remains a growing concern in Pakistan, with multiple cases reported in recent months involving forged documents, bribery, and collusion within government institutions. The FIA reiterated its commitment to dismantling such networks and ensuring accountability across all levels.
