Since the Greece boat disaster, The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken quick action by suspension of the Directors and Deputy Directors of FIA Faisalabad Zone. Furthermore,30 officers, 12 assistants were also suspended and charge sheets were filed against them.
FIA has also blacklisted human trafficking agents and 13 FIA officials were detained, and 276 cases were registered after The Prime Minister approved of the seizure of their properties.
It turns out that several human traffickers are located in the Punjab region of Pakistan. These criminals represent themselves as authorized trade agents, to make money selling false overseas business opportunities to victims. Umrah and other legal reasons are given to them as a cover for illegal immigration.
During one of the meetings, Saqib Sultan, the Additional Director General FIA, discussed the measures and actions that have been performed against human traffickers with the Interior Committee of the National Assembly. Somehow, he was also able to trace over the accounts of the Jaja smuggling gang, and more recently, accounts of other gangs worth over 690 million were also frozen.
The FIA struggles to eradicate human trafficking from the country and safeguard the potential victims from abuse.
