The release of Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan’s Indian film ‘Abir Gulal’, which was released today, has been stopped, while the film’s supporting actor Ridhi Dogra also confirmed that the film will not be released.

According to the Indian sources, Abir Gulal’ was announced to be released today on May 9, but its release was postponed due to the ongoing tension between Pakistan and India. A ban on the release of the film was demanded at the end of April last month when 26 people were killed in an attack in the Pahalgam area of occupied Kashmir.

After the Pahalgam incident, the Indian government had also banned Pakistani news and showbiz drama TV channels on YouTube and other social media platforms, while the social media accounts of the actors were also blocked. In addition, on May 8, the Indian government had stopped all OTT platforms in India from showing Pakistani dramas, films, web series, and podcasts.

It was already being speculated that ‘Abir Gulal’ would not be released, however, the film team had not made any clear announcement in this regard, and the film was not released today, its release was postponed.

The film team did not clarify when ‘Abir Gulal’ would be released again, however, it is likely that the film will not be released for several years now, as the Indian government has also stopped OTT platforms from showing Pakistani films and dramas. On the other hand, ‘Abir Gulal’ supporting actress Ridhi Dogra said that she supports the decision to postpone the film’s release, as she is bound to follow the policies and laws of her government.

Through ‘Abir Gulal’, Fawad Khan appears to be working in India after 9 years, before that he was last seen in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ in 2016.
