ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a suspect, identified as Safiullah son of Saifullah, from Islamabad’s F-10 Markaz on charges of blackmailing and harassing a woman using her private photos and videos. According to officials, the accused had repeatedly intimidated the victim and her family, leading her to attempt suicide out of distress.
During the raid, investigators recovered explicit material stored in hidden folders on the suspect’s mobile phone and laptop. A case has been registered under FIR No. 242/2025, invoking Sections 20, 21, and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, along with Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Further investigation has been handed over to Sub-Inspector Humaira Aslam of the NCCIA.
The case once again underscores the alarming rise of cyber harassment in Pakistan, particularly targeting women, and the critical importance of strict enforcement of PECA laws.
The arrest sends a clear message that Pakistan’s cybercrime watchdog is strengthening its vigilance to protect citizens, ensuring that digital spaces remain safe, accountable, and respectful of human dignity.
