Chairman Senate  Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, attended the Horse Riding Championship in Madrota, District Attock, as the Chief Guest. In his address on the occasion, Chairman Senate lauded the rich cultural heritage, bravery, and centuries-old equestrian traditions of the region, describing Madrotta as a land known for its valour, history, and deep-rooted association with the art of horse riding.

He emphasized that traditional sports are the true reflection of a region’s culture, customs, and way of life. “These games are not merely a source of entertainment but a living expression of our cultural identity,” he noted. Pakistan, he said, enjoys a distinctive position in the world of traditional sports, with horse riding occupying a particularly esteemed place as a symbol of national heritage and pride.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani remarked that the Madrotta Show was not just a competition but a grand celebration of Pakistan’s equestrian legacy, passion, and spirit. “The courage, skill, and traditions of our horsemen are a matter of pride for the entire nation,” he added.

The Chairman Senate further noted that equestrian sports such as Neza Bazi (tent pegging) are deeply rooted in ancient traditions that date back to the era of Alexander the Great. In the past, horsemen held a place of high esteem, and today, those traditions continue through such sports events.

“Horse riding,” he said, “is not merely about competition,  it is a discipline that teaches patience, balance, harmony, and endurance. It instills in us lessons that go beyond sport, guiding us in life with perseverance and composure.”

Chairman Senate Gilani underscored the importance of such events for the youth, saying that they serve as vital platforms to connect younger generations with their cultural and historical heritage. “These games bring together communities, families, and generations, reminding us of the shared spirit that unites us as Pakistanis,” he remarked.

He praised the performance and dedication of all participating riders, acknowledging their role in keeping the tradition alive and paying tribute to the courage and legacy of their forefathers.

While appreciating the efforts of Sardar Shani and his team, Chairman Senate said, “Your vision and hard work have made Madrotta a source of pride for equestrian enthusiasts across Pakistan.” He reaffirmed his full support for initiatives that promote traditional sports, noting that such activities not only encourage athletic development but also strengthen Pakistan’s cultural identity.

Concluding his address, Chairman Senate prayed for peace, unity, prosperity, and progress of Pakistan. The event was attended by Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider, Members of the National Assembly Syed Ali Musa Gilani and Abdul Majeed Niazi, former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, Pir Syed Qutab Ali Shah, and several prominent personalities from across the country.
