The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has appointed Dr. Amber Darr, an internationally recognized academic lawyer and researcher in competition law and policy, as an external expert to its newly established Centre of Excellence in Research in Competition.

Dr. Darr brings with her a wealth of experience in competition law, having taught and conducted research at leading global institutions including the University of Manchester, University College London, Lincoln’s Inn, and Bryn Mawr College. Her expertise in law and policy will strengthen the CCP’s efforts to promote fair competition and curb anti-competitive practices in Pakistan.

The Centre of Excellence, set up by CCP, will serve as a dedicated platform to conduct in-depth research on markets and industrial sectors, generate evidence-based insights, and provide policy recommendations to government, businesses, and regulators. It will also function as a knowledge hub for competition-related issues, facilitating better policymaking and awareness.

Welcoming Dr. Darr’s engagement, the CCP noted that her involvement will “add academic depth and international perspective to the Commission’s research agenda, enabling Pakistan’s competition framework to align with global best practices.”

The initiative is part of CCP’s broader reforms to strengthen regulation, encourage competitive markets, and protect consumers. Alongside its enforcement actions against cartels, abuse of dominance, and deceptive marketing practices, the CCP is now investing in research-driven policymaking to ensure market efficiency and economic growth
