The Punjab education boards have announced revised registration fees for students of classes 9 and 10 for the academic years 2025 to 2027, marking a noticeable increase compared to previous years. According to the new fee structure, the total cost of registration has now been set at Rs 2,910. This includes a registration fee of Rs 1,100, a processing fee of Rs 630, a board development fund of Rs 300, a scholarship fee of Rs 180, and a sports fee of Rs 200.
In addition to these charges, schools will collect an extra Rs 500 on their own behalf. Furthermore, they are permitted to charge an additional Rs 300 to Rs 500 under the label of “other services,” bringing the total possible cost for students even higher. The revised fee structure applies uniformly to both government and private institutions.
The registration process is scheduled to commence on May 29, 2025, without a late fee. However, students who complete their registration between May 30 and June 13 will be required to pay an additional late fee of Rs 600. As per the eligibility criteria, only students who are at least 11 years and 2 months old as of August 1, 2025, will be allowed to register.
The entire process will be conducted online, but schools are still required to submit hard copies of the registration documents to the respective board offices. Students must also provide their B-Form as part of the registration documentation. The announcement has sparked concern among parents and educators, particularly regarding the added financial burden on families and the increasing commercialization of education.
