Anti-Corruption smashes several individuals along with the former Commissioner, on charges of Corruption.

The Anti-Corruption Department in Gujranwala has arrested seven individuals, including former Deputy Commissioner Fiaz Mohal, for their alleged involvement in a corruption scandal related to the Gujranwala Motorway Link project. The accused are said to have illegally increased land prices to benefit specific individuals, causing a loss of Rs. 4.71 crore to the government.¹

 

The investigation revealed that the accused ignored reports from the revenue staff and field investigations, making decisions without proper verification. The scheduled rate for land acquisition in Gujranwala was Rs. 50 lakh, but the accused fixed the compensation price at Rs. 2.72 crore, favoring certain individuals.

 

The accused include:

 

– Fiaz Ahmed Mohal, former Deputy Commissioner

– Mujtaba Arif Bhurwana, former Chairman DPAC and Additional Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala

– Mian Tauseef Hassan, former Assistant Commissioner Gujranwala

– Khurram Mukhtar Bhangu, former Assistant Commissioner Kamonki

– Muhammad Yasin, SDO Irrigation Gujranwala

– Rana Rafeeq, Excise and Taxation Officer Gujranwala

– Muhammad Riaz, Patwari Circle Gujranwala

 

The Anti-Corruption Department has registered a case against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
