Lahore – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore has arrested another suspect allegedly involved in promoting illegal online betting applications through social media platforms.

According to officials, the suspect, identified as Mudasir Hassan, son of Sakhi Hassan, resident of Chah Arianwala, Adda Shakhani, District Bhakkar, was apprehended in Lahore. The arrest was made under FIR No. 222/25 registered under sections 13, 14, 25, and 26 of the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 (as amended in 2025), along with sections 294-B and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Investigators said Hassan had been actively promoting betting platforms including Quotex and similar apps via YouTube and other social media tools, encouraging users to engage in unlawful online gambling activities. The NCCIA recovered a mobile phone from his possession at the time of arrest.

The accused was produced before a court of competent jurisdiction, where authorities secured five days of physical remand for further investigation. The inquiry is being supervised by Assistant Director Shoaib Raiz, with Inspector Aaqib Ali Khan serving as the investigation officer.

In recent days, several individuals have been detained across Punjab for their alleged role in advertising and facilitating such betting platforms, reflecting a broader crackdown on digital gambling networks that have gained traction through social media campaigns. Authorities maintain that these activities not only violate local laws but also pose significant financial risks to unsuspecting citizens.

The NCCIA has reaffirmed its resolve to continue targeting networks involved in online gambling and fraudulent schemes, urging the public to remain cautious of such promotions circulating online.
