ISLAMABAD – The legal profession in Pakistan has witnessed countless individuals who dedicated their lives to the pursuit of justice, yet only a few manage to leave behind an enduring legacy of commitment, professionalism, and service. Among them stands Shah Faisal Utmankhel, an accomplished lawyer from Peshawar whose journey spans more than two decades—marked by exceptional advocacy, remarkable leadership, and an unwavering dedication to the rule of law.

The journey began in 2001, at the District Courts of Peshawar, where Shah Faisal Utmankhel immersed himself in the intricacies of civil, criminal, and family law. From 2001 to 2005, he built the foundation of his career through tireless legal research, drafting, and courtroom advocacy. His reputation quickly grew—not only as a competent litigator but also as a principled advocate who viewed the practice of law as a sacred responsibility. Since 2005, his practice expanded to both the District Courts and the High Court of Peshawar, where he has now amassed 23 years of professional experience.

His record speaks for itself: thousands of cases argued at the trial, appellate, and revisional levels, further cementing his place in the annals of legal history. His career has not been confined to the courtroom alone. In 2003, he was elected as a cabinet member of the Peshawar Bar Association, dedicating himself to the welfare of fellow lawyers. His leadership qualities were further recognized when he became General Secretary of the Peshawar Bar Association in 2012, where he played an instrumental role in strengthening bar-bench relations and served on critical committees, including the Anti-Corruption Committee.

His contributions extended to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, where he was elected as a member for the 2015–2020 session. During this period, he chaired the Disciplinary Committee and contributed to several others, including the Enrollment Committee, Free Legal Aid Committee, and Interprovincial Coordination Committee—always working toward the advancement of the legal fraternity and upholding professional integrity. On 9th March 2024, Shah Faisal Utmankhel assumed the prestigious office of Advocate-General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the rank/status of Provincial Minister.

As the Principal Law Officer of the province, he represents and defends the provincial government in important cases before the superior courts, while also advising on key policy and legal matters. Since taking office, he has drafted and supervised numerous legislations, ensuring that provincial laws are aligned with constitutional principles and meet the evolving needs of governance. His role in lawmaking has further strengthened institutional frameworks and contributed to transparent, efficient, and people-oriented governance in the province.

Legislation drafted under his supervision reflects a forward-looking vision, emphasizing good governance, transparency, and justice. With this role, Shah Faisal Utmankhel continues to uphold his lifelong mission: to serve the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through the law, with integrity and dedication. His journey is not just that of a lawyer but of a guardian of justice, a leader among peers, and a voice for fairness in the legal system of Pakistan.
