According to Indian media, the police in Bhopal have arrested a 23-year-old woman, Anuradha Paswan, on charges of marrying and robbing. Police said that the woman had married 25 men in different states in 7 months and robbed them and fled, for which she was named ‘robber and scoundrel bride’.

According to the police, the incident came to light when Vishnu Sharma, a resident of Sui Madhupur, filed a complaint with the police and said that the agent took Rs 2 lakh and got Anuradha married in court on April 20. She fled on May 2 with all her valuables.

Police said that the woman used legal documents for the marriage, stayed with her husband for a few days, and then fled at night after stealing gold ornaments, cash and electronic items. After marrying Vishnu Sharma, the woman also married another man in Bhopal.

The police further said that Anuradha previously worked in a hospital in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh and after a domestic dispute with her husband, she moved to Bhopal where she allegedly joined a gang that worked through local agents, who would charge clients between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 5 lakh for getting married by sharing pictures of brides on WhatsApp.
