Acting on the instructions of the Divisional Intelligence Committee, the Rawalpindi Development Authority Task Force has intensified operations against illegal housing schemes. The RDA Enforcement Squad targeted four illegal housing schemes, including Humwatan Enclave, Land Sub-Division (Haji Murtaza), Zam Zam Villas and Masriot Villas, which are located in Mouza Masriot Tehsil and District Rawalpindi.
According to an RDA spokesperson, the site offices, road infrastructures, manholes, and containers of these illegal housing schemes have been demolished and sealed as a result of the operation. The crackdown was supervised by Director General Kanza Murtaza, who stressed the need to continue such operations to combat fraudulent practices and protect citizens from exploitation. The DG RDA said that under the guidance of Commissioner Rawalpindi, we are determined to adopt a strong approach to eliminate illegal housing societies.
He stressed that public complaints regarding illegal occupation of lands by housing scheme owners are being taken seriously, and strict action will be taken against those involved in forcible occupation of lands. He said that the public is also encouraged to check the RDA website (www.rda.gop.pk) and buy and sell only from approved housing schemes.
Despite previous warnings to stop illegal advertisements, bookings, and development, the owners of the said housing schemes were continuing to operate booking offices in violation of rules and regulations. The joint operation team included officials from RDA and Thana Dhamial Chakri Road Rawalpindi. The key members of the team included Assistant Director Planning RDA Ali Raza, RDA Scheme/Building Inspectors and other team members who conducted the operation.
