On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said in his message that tourism serves as the backbone of a country’s economic, social, and cultural development. He stated that the promotion of tourism in Pakistan would not only strengthen the economy and generate vast employment opportunities but also enhance public prosperity and project a positive and enlightened image of Pakistan to the world.

He said Pakistan, due to its geographical diversity, natural beauty, ancient civilizations, and religious and cultural heritage, is an attractive destination for tourists from across the globe. Pakistan’s identity is not limited to its lofty mountains, deserts, and coastal belts but also includes the traditions of Kalash Valley, the grandeur of Gandhara civilization, and spiritual centers like the Kartarpur Corridor, which grant Pakistan a unique and significant position for followers of different religions and cultures worldwide.

The Senate Chairman said the government has introduced a comprehensive visa policy to promote religious tourism, and these measures not only foster interfaith harmony and tolerance but also portray Pakistan as a peaceful, hospitable, and responsible state before the international community.

He further said the current Parliament is committed to promoting sustainable tourism in order to ensure economic development, social justice, cultural harmony, and national unity. He reaffirmed that through the promotion of tourism, a foundation can be laid for a peaceful, prosperous, and developed Pakistan.
