The Islamabad Express from Uhuru to Rawalpindi met with an accident near Shahdara, 29 passengers were injured when the bogies derailed, the Railway Minister has sought a report.
According to Sources, the bogies of the Islamabad Express from Lahore to Rawalpindi derailed near Kala Shah Kaku, injuring 29 passengers.After the accident, train traffic on the track was suspended, and several trains, including the Green Line and rail cars, were stopped.
Taking notice of the Islamabad Express accident, Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi directed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Railways and the Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways to reach the accident site.
Hanif Abbasi also directed the railway staff to expedite the rescue operations and medical staff to reach the spot immediately.
The Railway Minister has ordered an inquiry into the accident and directed it to submit a report within 7 days.On the other hand, the route of trains coming and going from Rawalpindi and Lahore has been temporarily changed due to the accident.
Railway officials say that until the track is cleared, the trains will reach Lahore via Wazirabad, Sangla Hill, Hafizabad, Shahdara.Railway officials have said that the Islamabad Express train has been sent from Sadhuki after the accident.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his regret over the Islamabad Express accident and directed the rescue teams to speed up the operation.The Prime Minister directed to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured and prayed for their speedy recovery.
