Sardar Sherbaz Khan Satakzai has been arrested under the pretext of the Degari incident, prompting sharp condemnation from prominent tribal leaders of Sarawan, including Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani, Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai, Sardar Muhammad Muhammad Shahi, Sardar Asim Jan Sarira, Sardarzada Mir Javed Aziz, and Azeem Jan Muhammad Lehri. In a joint statement, they denounced the raid on the residence of Sardar Sherbaz Khan Satakzai, stating that the police violated the sanctity of the chador and four walls, a deeply respected tradition, by forcefully entering his home and arresting not only him but other members of his family as well.
The leaders described this act as an unacceptable misuse of authority, emphasizing that Sardar Sherbaz Khan Satakzai is the head of his tribe and arresting him in such a manner only serves to spread unrest. They insisted that if the authorities are genuinely investigating the incident in Degari, they should target those directly involved, rather than using it as an excuse to disrespect and humiliate the tribal leadership by raiding their homes. The statement labeled the police and administrative actions as unjustified and reckless.
They further warned that Sardar Sherbaz Khan Satakzai will soon announce a response plan on behalf of the Sardars of Sarawan in reaction to the unlawful arrest of his family members, the invasion of his home, and the blatant disregard for traditional values. The incident has sparked outrage within the tribal community, signaling growing tensions between traditional tribal structures and state authorities.
