A senior officer of Pakistan Customs, Mr. Imran Aslam Gul, serving as Principal Appraiser in Karachi, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances, prompting his family to file an application with the Boat Basin Police Station and appeal for an urgent investigation and search operation.
According to the written application submitted by his son, Muhammad Shehroz Khan, Mr. Gul and his driver Mr. Saleem have been missing since the morning of July 3, 2025, after leaving their residence in Malir Cantt around 8:00 AM in a white Toyota Corolla (BKM-250). Mr. Gul was reportedly on his way to the Customs office but never arrived.
Later that day, the missing officer’s vehicle was found abandoned near Seaview, close to the stadium and nursery area — within the jurisdiction of the Boat Basin Police Station. The suspicious nature of the location and condition of the vehicle has raised serious concerns for the safety of Mr. Gul and his driver.
While no official communication has been made by any state authority regarding Mr. Gul’s status, the family has not ruled out the possibility that he may have been taken by a government institution for investigation, especially in the backdrop of the ongoing inquiries and actions being conducted within Pakistan Customs. However, there has been no formal arrest or detention notice shared with the family.
At the same time, Mr. Gul’s son has expressed deep concern that smuggling elements may have abducted his father, possibly in retaliation for his official role and recent operations against illicit trade networks. Given his father’s rank and responsibilities, the family fears he may have been targeted due to his professional duties.
“We are uncertain of who is behind his disappearance, but the circumstances are extremely serious,” said Muhammad Shehroz. “Whether he is being held by an institution or taken by criminal elements, we urgently request that the police and authorities conduct a coordinated search to find him.”
The family has requested the Boat Basin Police to begin an immediate investigation and cooperate with relevant civil and military institutions to confirm Mr. Gul’s whereabouts. They have offered their full support in the process and emphasized that time is critical to ensure his safe return.
