A startling development in the Peshawar High Court has captured public and legal attention after a petition alleged that a senior member of the MTI Tribunal, Mr. Mansoor Tariq, demanded a bribe in the form of an iPhone 16 Pro Max from a doctor in return for a favorable decision in his case. The sensational nature of this accusation has raised serious concerns about judicial integrity and accountability within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s medical tribunal system.

The petition, reportedly sent directly to the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court, was treated with urgency due to the gravity of the claims. Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, the Acting Chief Justice converted the complaint into a formal writ petition and scheduled the hearing for June 12, 2025. During the initial court proceedings, the Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was issued an oral notice. In response, the Advocate General requested additional time to consult with the provincial government regarding the emerging allegations.

In a decisive move, the court has made high-level officials party to the case, including the Chief Secretary, the Additional Chief Secretary, and the Registrar of the MTI Tribunal. Official notices have been dispatched, and all parties are directed to respond by June 18, 2025. Furthermore, the court has issued a directive to the Chairman of the MTI Tribunal, instructing him to immediately suspend Mansoor Tariq from hearing any further cases until the matter is resolved or a second judgment is issued.

Legal commentators have described the court’s actions as a significant moment in reinforcing judicial transparency and public confidence in the rule of law. The swift response by the judiciary has been viewed as a commendable effort to uphold integrity within key institutions. While the allegations remain to be proven, the proactive approach by the court sends a strong message against corruption and misuse of authority. The case is now being closely watched, as its outcome could set a precedent for how such ethical violations are addressed within judicial and quasi-judicial bodies in the province and beyond.
