Pakistan has called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s exhibitionist speech at an ‘election theatre’ in Gujarat hateful, violent and a violation of UN principles and has demanded that the international community take immediate notice.
A statement issued by the Foreign Office said that Pakistan has taken note of the recent statement by the Indian Prime Minister, which was made at an ‘election theatre’-like rally in Gujarat. Instead of Modi displaying the seriousness befitting a nuclear-armed head of state, his statement incites hate-based violence, which is extremely worrying.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said that not only because of the content of this speech but also because of this dangerous precedent in a volatile region, we regret the continued lack of seriousness and decency in India’s state conduct.
According to the Foreign Office statement, Modi’s statements are a clear violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, which obligate member states to resolve disputes peacefully and to refrain from the threat or use of force against the sovereignty or political independence of any state.
The statement said that Pakistan views these statements as an irresponsible provocation, aimed at diverting attention from the ongoing human rights violations and demographic change in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Foreign Office said that Pakistan’s leading role in UN peacekeeping missions and its continued cooperation in global counter-terrorism efforts are more meaningful than any aggressive statements.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, if extremism is truly a concern for the Indian government, it should look within itself, where majoritarian extremism, religious intolerance, and systematic exploitation of minorities are increasing day by day, which is under the influence of the increasingly violent ideology of Hindutva.
The statement further said that Pakistan is committed to peace based on mutual respect and sovereign equality, however, any threat to its security or territorial integrity will be responded to effectively and appropriately, as is our right under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The statement demanded that the international community should take serious note of India’s increasing provocative rhetoric, which is seriously undermining the prospects for regional stability and lasting peace.
It should be noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuing to make provocative statements to reap political benefits after the defeat in the recent war. While speaking in Gujarat last night, Narendra Modi alleged that Pakistan has made terrorism its source of income. The Pakistani people should come out to eliminate terrorism, eat bread, eat air, otherwise I have a bullet to eat.
