Islamabad: Opposition parties have decided to consult on the proposal to hold an all-party conference.
While holding a press conference with opposition leaders, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that democratic and political forces believe in negotiations. We do not disagree with the negotiation process in principle. However, the government’s attitude seems to be reducing the scope for future negotiations.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the opposition parties held a brief meeting today. The political situation in the country is unbalanced, while the government’s attitude towards the opposition is also in front of us.
He said negotiations should be conducted in a political tone and move forward without interference from behind-the-scenes forces.
The JUI chief said that the negotiations can be fruitful only on the basis of giving and taking. The government has proposed an All Parties Conference (APC), on which he will consult his party. The opposition parties should also consider this proposal in detail.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that if an All Parties Conference is held, a common agenda and action plan should be developed in consultation with all parties so that moderation can be created in political matters in the country and national issues can be resolved through negotiations.
He said that we are all equal Pakistanis, no one’s loyalty can be called doubtful, we stand with the constitution and the state and will move forward in the interest of the country.
The JUI chief said that long marches and protests are political and democratic rights, if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf wants to come to Islamabad, then in principle it should be allowed.
On the other hand, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that he had come to invite the All Parties Conference. The economic and law and order situation of the country is not good, politicians should come together and find solutions to the problems.
