I will be freed from agony one day: Dr Aafia Siddiqui sounds optimistic

WASHINGTON- Pakistani neuroscientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui who is imprisoned in a US jail has hoped she will be released after new evidences come in her favor in the case against her. According to the British news channel SKY News,  Dr Aafia Siddiqui told it particularly through her counsel. Declaring herself innocent and hoping she was not forgotten and would soon be released one day, I will be freed from this agony one day, she sounded optimistic.

Clive Stafford Smith counsel for Aafia Siddiqui demanded that the outgoing president of the US Joe Biden forgive his client. He has presented him with a dossier containing 76500 words. President Joe Biden has time till Monday to consider the application seeking pardon for Aafia Siddiqui as Donald Trump will take oath on this day.

Biden has granted presidential pardons to 47 people so far and he has curtailed the sentence of 3989 people. Counsel for Aafia Siddiqui while citing reference to evidence of witnesses which were not available at the time of hearing of the case claimed she was declared suspect due to errors of intelligence.

Alleged when Dr Aafia Siddiqui was on a visit to Pakistan in 2003, Pakistan’s inter-services intelligence agency took her into its custody along with three children and handed over her to the CIA which took her to Bagram airbase in Afghanistan.

The counsel to Aafia Siddiqui said US intelligence made the wrong assessment while agencies were of the view Dr Aafia Siddiqui was a nuclear physicist who is working to make a radioactive bomb. While she had done PhD in Education.

The US Justice Department told SKY News about all the allegations against Dr. Aafia Siddiqui that it will avoid giving a reaction.
